Big P and I enjoyed making chocolate chip cookies this weekend. Are you shocked? Remember, I’m not declaring war on sugar. Just too much sugar. This blog is all about transitions, but I don’t think I’m willing to transition away from gooey, home-made cookies. Eating an occasional cookie is fine, especially if you’re making them yourself and can control what goes into them.
I got away with decreasing the sugar by half in Middle E’s birthday cake. So we decided to experiment with the the Original Nestle Toll House Recipe and decreased the sugar by 1/2 cup. They were still insanely sweet and we enjoyed them right out of the oven.
(We also rolled a few in unsweetened coconut. Yummers.)
The next strategy was getting the leftovers out of the house. Big P packed up cookies in little holiday bags and ran them to neighbors. This is his favorite job and I didn’t have to walk past a giant plate of cookies. (I don’t just walk past them.)
