Sticky Dough Therapy with Kretschmer Wheat Germ

Fresh bread will gather the kids like nothing else! Recipe at Kretschmer Wheat Germ.

I’m far too lazy to reorganize these photos. Use your beautiful intellect to put them in chronological order. The bowl of flour precedes the loaf. Right?

Fresh wheat bread. Worth the time just for the smell that fills my house. Recipe from Kretschmer Wheat Germ.

I was knee deep in dirty dishes, laundry, and anxiety. Obviously I needed to go for a run bake something. I love baking with my sweet ones. They joyfully wield wooden spoons. They taste as they go. Even sampling crunchy bits of wheat germ makes them squeal. Whole Wheat Bread with Kretschmer Wheat Germ

Their enjoyment always reconnects me to simple pleasures. It’s then that I actually feel the warm oven and crunchy crusts.Bread-Shot-2

I love using wheat germ in baking quick breads and for the breading on chicken fingers and sweet potato fries. This is the first time I’ve tried it in a yeast bread. The results were delicious. Whole Wheat Bread with Kretschmer Wheat Germ

I tweaked a recipe for Whole Wheat Cloverleaf Dinner Rolls. Instead of making rolls, I created two loaves. The only change I made was divide the dough in half. Form two loaves and bake for 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crusty looking. Head over to Kretschmer for the recipe.

Makai is a muffin man. So muffins and soup are my automatic go to for cold days. I love his squeals of delight when he realizes one of his very favorite foods are going down in the kitchen and his impatient switching on the oven light to watch the muffins bake.

Organic banana bread or apple crisp are two things I bake when I’m a little sad about how cold the day is, or if I’m just a little sad because it’s still winter. Baking cheers me. And when I visit my younger daughter in Philadelphia I bake for her (she doesn’t cook *sigh*). You’re blessed to have help in the kitchen! 🙂
