Healthier Super Bowl Snacking: Broncos Banana-Mango 5 Minute Ice Cream

Healthier-Superbowl-Snacks_header_pin

I have a confession about football. It’s pretty serious. So you’d better consider yourselves lucky that I trust you enough to divulge.

I don’t care for football.

So I’m a little uncomfortable posting anything about the Super Bowl. I’ve never actually watched an entire Super Bowl game. I think I attended a few parties growing up, but I can’t sit very long and I can’t stand dip that comes in cans. Fail.

After observing social media, I’ve picked up on some interesting trends around Super Bowl season. Got an arm? Get a Broncos tattoo. You won’t regret it and it actually helps the team. Got a kid? Deck them out in Bronco’s merchandise. But if you’ve got a baby, that’s even better. Deck them out in a Bronco’s onesie, beanie, socks, and if you’ve got the money, a special football pacifier. My Facebook feed shows this very phenomenon. It’s the greatest money making scheme in the world.

What’s really amazing is the kudos given to junk food merely because it is orange and blue. I am going to remind you that artificially dyed frosting will not, I repeat, not assist in seizing the trophy at Super Bowl XLVIII.

Sorry for the sarcasm. I guess brain-injury-promoting sports do this to someone who is passionate about public health.

Now that you’ve survived my rant, I have a recipe for you. Introducing the Broncos Banana-Mango 5 Minute Ice Cream. It’s a delicious sweet treat for your football fans that is wonderfully quick, delicious, and healthy. They’ll love that it’s blue and orange. Go Broncos! Broncos Banana-Mango 5 Minute Ice Cream

Broncos Banana-Mango 5 Minute Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • For the Ice Cream:
  • 4 Frozen Bananas
  • 1 1/2 Cups Frozen Mango Pieces
  • Toppings:
  • Blueberries
  • Frozen Mango Pieces, thawed
  • Whipped Cream

Instructions

  • Break the bananas in half and toss into your food processor. Add the mangoes and process on high for about two minutes. Using a rubber spatula, scrape down the sides and process for 2 more minutes. You will see the fruit begin to make a wonderfully creamy texture. Continue to scrape and process until you have one consistent, creamy texture.
  • Serve immediately with Broncos-inspired fruit toppings.

My five-year-old loves this version of ice cream. He actually told me that he prefers it to actual ice cream. Let me know how your kiddos like this!
