I publicly announced in my community newspaper that I would run a half-marathon. Do I like to gloat about being a perfect fitness model for the community? Nope. I’m the opposite. I am squeezing into my jeans and inconsistently getting to the gym. I wanted the world to know about my intentions to run this race because I wanted the world to hold me accountable for finishing every last step.
Training was wonderfully therapeutic. I enjoyed running on country roads and finding the mental clarity that comes after five miles of empty pastures and tanker trucks. Some of my most creative and positive thoughts came during these solo runs. I still can’t believe that I completed the training and successfully finished 13.1 miles. Really. But now I know that this mom can move. I can’t wait to work on my next feat of wonder: a pull up.
Have you been doing anything this winter that has s t r e t c h e d you?
Check out the pictures from my training around Morgan County, CO. Thank you for being a supportive health community for me and my family.
