Perfect Limeade Slush

Perfect Limeade Slush | Don't Panic MomWe were at the playground and I couldn’t focus. Well, that’s not entirely true. I could focus, but not on elaborate lava monster games. My focus was on running home and cranking out limeade slush.

LimesWe had a bounty of limes from our food co-op and I usually just use them in salad dressing or citrus water. But today they were destined for a simple, but quite perfect, limeade slush.

Naked-LimeReference this picture if you haven’t seen a naked lime before. Shocking.

My kids love a little garnish.

I use honey as the sweetener because I absolutely love how citrus and honey taste together. If you are using honey, make sure you put the lukewarm water and honey in the blender first and give it a whirl while it dissolves. I made the rookie mistake and put the honey in with the ice and created honey-cicles coating the inside of my blender. Good thing we had company and I could make another batch. Yum.

Serving Size: 8 ounces

Limeade Slush

This recipe is simple and speedy. Add in an extra lime if your crew likes more tang.

  • 1 Cup Lukewarm Water
  • 1/3 Cup Honey
  • 4 Cups Ice
  • Juice of 2 Limes, about 4 Tablespoons
  • 1 Naked Lime (peel and pith removed)

  • Put the lukewarm water into the blender with the honey. Blend on high for 30 seconds or until the honey is dissolved. Next, add the ice, lime juice, and naked lime. Blend on high for one minute, or until all of the ice cubes have been sufficiently pulverized into slush.
  • Garnish with lime curls or wedges. Serve to your favorite people on a hot summer day.

If you don't have honey on hand, use whatever sweetener you can scavenge in the pantry.
